OXYGEN

An imaginary journey, a symbolic crossing, a dream flight, the passing of time…

The prints in this project echo a need for change in my life. In this series, the colour blue symbolises (for me) space and freedom. Two prints have been reworked with a more colourful version.

Connection

This print is a stylised representation of the spectacular Iroise bridge in Brest, based on a picture I took in August 2022 standing from the old Albert Loupe bridge, which is next to it. It is a linocut of 4 plates and 6 colours with a mix of water-based and oil-based inks, including a very shiny silver ink (difficult to photograph).

Light mat grey ink was used in the test print version which did not convey the amazement we feel in front of this beautiful  work of engineering. In the final edition, a very shiny silver ink was substituted to the grey ink. This test print was offered as part of #oneofmanypostcard.

This print in its turquoise-blue version with silver ink was entered in two small-format print exhibitions: the 11th Miniprint Kazanlak Competition in Bulgaria and the 43rd Mini Print International of Cadaqués in Spain. It was selected by the Cadaqués jury as a winning print along with 5 other prints by 5 other printmakers from around the world. It will therefore be donated to the Library of Catalonia by ADOGI.

Connection II

Connection II is the green variation on the Connection print. The colours of the sea change and I wanted to explore this colour scheme...

Pareidolia

Pareidolia is the name given to the phenomenon whereby we recognise familiar elements in our natural or urban environment... Do you play with seeing shapes in clouds or in everyday objects too?

When I published this engraving on my Instagram account and asked everyone to give their interpretation, an impressive number of animals were recognised by my followers! Well done! For me, it's peace and freedom that have manifested themselves in this three-plate, three-colour print...

Linocut 10x10 cm (3 plates) on 18x18 cm white Fabriano Unica paper. Schmincke ink. Edition of 10. This print was included in two exhibitions of small-format prints: the 11th Miniprint Kazanlak Competition in Bulgaria and the 43rd Mini Print International of Cadaqués in Spain.

Journey

This print gave me the idea for the title of this series (Oxygène). I had a lot of fun doing this colour gradation on the scroll...

Sunrinse

This print is as you can see a variation or Journey. I gave it a different title (contrary to the tradition) because the coulour has a special meaning for me. I did love mixing all those pastel colours…
